How to Get My Privacy Screen to Stick Again

How to Re-apply a screen protector (and remove dust from the sticky side)

  1. Nickexp , Oct 2, 2015 :
Why I made this tutorial: Ok- then basically I had this annoying chimera on my tempered glass screen protector. It had in the centre of it what looks like a little bit from the glass, which I later institute out after removing the screen protector was dust. And then- to clean it I used the micro-fibre cloth. Big fault. All of the $.25 of dust on it just got stuck to the gluey side of the screen protector, so I'll just walk people though how to do it right and clean dust off without, well, adding more than- because when I reapplied it the first time it was fifty-fifty worse.

Disclaimer: This tutorial was written based off of my experience with a Tempered Glass screen protector- not sure how well it works with a normal one, if anyone tries information technology with a normal plastic one delight permit me know how it goes, but it should work the same.
    Tutorial:
    i.
And then beginning you'll want to remove your screen protector- the more dust free the area, the better. I'd recommend turning off whatever fans and doing it at a clean workspace/desk/whatever. (If for some reason yous're screen protector is dust costless after removal- skip to step 6)

    2. At this point y'all'll need gluey tape (any type volition work- I heard yous need to use packing tape only normal office record worked fine, if not better, for me and is more readily available).

three. Now gluey record the non-sticky side downward and then that when removing the strips of tape one by ane from the other side, it won't lift off of the table/workspace and you lot won't take to utilise your hands to hold it down, getting information technology dirty and defeating the whole point of doing this in the commencement place.

    4. Now place a strip of viscous record beyond the sticky side of the screen protector, make sure it'southward actually stuck t the screen protector, then pare information technology off. Make sure that you practise this over and over, until you have gotten the whole of that side. This will safely remove all dust, fingerprints and other things from the sticky side of the screen (and the non-viscous side, only the normal side the micro-fibre cloth is easier to use on that side as it has no stickiness to catch the small $.25 of it that can come off).

    5. Once you lot've done this across the whole of the side, check for whatever remaining dust, if in that location is any, just reapply tape there and peel it off.

half-dozen. Make sure you're devices screen is make clean, specifically of grit and small particles that will cause air bubbles- and fingerprints and smudges that will just be annoying. Also you can remove the tape from the non-gluey side of the screen protector that was property it down, every bit it is no longer needed.

    7. Now yous can reapply the screen protector, if it isn't gummy plenty to stick- there are multiple ways around this. I didn't see it as the sticky record actually added stickiness (you may desire to attempt that if you lot skipped to pace 6), but apparently in a room total of steam y'all can practice a "dry out install", but the steam method doesn't sound as good, and I experience like it would probably fog up the screen protector a flake, plus I don't feel similar putting my phone in a steamy room, and so simply exercise this if the other method doesn't work.

    8. Now use the tool that OnePlus provided (or if yous don't have that, a ruler may work but your hands is fine) to button air bubbling off to the side and out, if one won't go and it looks like there is like a chip in the screen protector, that is probably dust, so restart if y'all want to get rid of information technology and pushing it off won't work.

Enjoy your now-clean screen protectors without whatever bubbles! I promise this guide helped, if you need help or I wasn't clear enough please post below and I will get back to you lot ASAP.

What happened? You don't need any special tape or anything- merely normal office tape is what I used. It should be able to be peeled off (make you you accept some hanging off to grab it by). I just did it i strip at a time and it worked fine.

EDIT: Too- this tutorial was based off of my experience with the tempered glass screen protector- forgot to mention that, added it to the thread and made some aesthetic changes that volition hopefully arrive easier to read.

I heard people was just washing them with soap :D

You practice not want whatever glue on your viscid or unsticky side... it reduces visibility and might reduce the touch capability...

And then easier is to buy a new ane... it cost non that much... a tempered drinking glass can be found ~$5...

Thanks- I was hoping information technology might be helpful to someone- since I found 1 vauge mention of how you tin can use viscid tap one some ancient website and decided to actually brand a tutorial- it's my first one so sorry if information technology's a little vague.

That's you yous utilise sticky tape- the glass looked simply as clean as when I got information technology. As long as the viscous tape isn't filthy it'south all good, and the screen protector is just equally viscid as information technology is out of the box. Plus why purchase a new one just because you accept a few air bubbles? This is but an alternative to them- plainly if the screen protector is damaged you need a new ane.

  14. Nickexp , Oct 2, 2015 :
You saying my tutorial works or advising people to go an skilful? I'm confused. lol

  15. pgidia , October ii, 2015 :
To take help from expert rather than trying on own ;)

  16. Nickexp , Oct 2, 2015 :
Yes- but it is expensive for where I live, plus why carp? Just to get rid of some air bubbling? Not worth information technology- it'south merely then piece of cake to do this, information technology took me like 10 minutes (I was working out how to practice information technology as I went) and information technology worked fine, the screen protector is better placed and just as (if non more) gluey than before, so no harm done.

  17. Nickexp , Oct ii, 2015 :
Don't accept ane- but invite begging on threads that accept zero to do with invites won't become you one, merely saying.

    pa5t1s and nexus123 similar this.
